Rush Limbaugh calls Unemployed and 99ers freeloaders siphoning money from taxpayers

August 30th, 2010. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

Rush Limbaugh speech: www.youtube.com Mr Limbaugh unemployment check is a lifeline, a way to keep you from being hungry while you pound the pavement looking for work. How easy it must be for Rush Limbaugh, sitting in the lap of luxury, making more money in a month than many of us will make in a lifetime, to sit behind a microphone and make sport of those who, invariably through no fault of their own, are unable to support their families.

I now have to move into my dad’s dining room, because I couldn’t make it out in the world on my own. I was going to get a job, a car, and start looking into going to school. I just can’t seem to get past getting a job. The economy sucks!

Previously we described how Project Caua would create high-tech, interesting jobs for millions of people as systems administrator/entrepreneurs. This video talks about a sub-goal of the project to take these people from the unemployment roles and train them to do this job. Project Caua believes that an intelligent, motivated person could be trained to do this job in a relatively short time utilizing distance learning. Project Caua also believes that with proper support and continued training, that these people could come from areas considered “hard to employ”, such as single parents (who need to stay at home with their children) and the physically challenged. Most of this business could be done from their own residence, with other parts of the job sub-contracted as necessary. Portuguese closed captions by Joner Cyrre Worm.

Young, motivated – and jobless. In Europe, the economic crisis is affecting young people in particular. One in five of them is unemployed. Up till now, a good education was considered a job guarantee, but now Finland, the country that comes tops in education surveys, is faced with high youth joblessness. 23 point 5 percent of its young people have no work — that’s worse than the EU average. The Finnish government expects the problem to get worse over the course of the year. The country is bracing for record figures in the summer, when school leavers throng into the labor market. Made in Germany accompanies a young, well-educated unemployed man to the labor office, to a job interview, and to a meeting with representatives of the government. Report by Joachim Eggers

What To Do When You Are Unemployed

March 25th, 2010. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

Cato senior fellow Jagadeesh Gokhale discusses what we can do with the unemployed as we move out of the recession. About This Video Project During the week of March 2010, CSW staff partnered with the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) to engage attendees at the organization’s Annual Forum (www.nawb.org We (Melodee Hagensen and Kristin Wolff, CSW) conducted informal video interviews with a random sample of about 25 of the 1800 conference participants, comprising executive staff and members of workforce boards. We asked them about: key priorities and challenges, issues they were interested in learning about, and thoughts on what they’d heard or experienced at the conference. Jobs (job shortages, job creation, entrepreneurship, and Federal Jobs legislation) was the central issue on their minds. The “green energy economy” and training partnerships also emerged as important themes. We then conducted similarly informal video interviews with 10 policy professionals, thought leaders, and experts working on jobs, green energy, and training issues in Washington DC – these individuals represent a wide variety of policy, political, and economic perspectives. This video is is one of a collection that resulted from this project. The intent of NAWB and CSW is to share the individual clips with our partners, stakeholders, and communities as we advance a work, learning, and sustainable prosperity agenda. We will also be developing subject specific montages that we will add to …

Former House Majority Leader Tom delay that Sen. Jim Bunning was brave for blocking an extension in unemployment benefits. delay subscribes to the notion that people only try to find jobs when their benefits run out. There is an argument to be made that these extensions, the unemployment benefits keeps people from going and finding jobs. In fact there are some studies that have been done that show people stay on unemployment compensation and they dont look for a job until two or three weeks before they know the benefits are going to run out, delay told cnns Candy Crowley Sunday. People are unemployed because they want to be? asked Crowley. Well, it is the truth. and people in the real world know it, said delay.
