A group of unemployed youths has marched 500km, down from the northeast of England to London, as a deliberate and direct echo of the famous Jarrow march of 1936, when 200 unemployed men marched to plead for work during the depression. Congress leaves unemployed Americans in the cold

Hundreds of thousands of Americans will see their federal unemployment benefits expire this week, and millions more by the end of the year, just in time for the holiday season. Economist Max Fraad Wolff says there is a lot of room to cut the deficit instead of these benefits, starting with military which spends more than half the world’s defense budget.

Dean Heller from Nevada and Steve King from Iowa, who have expressed their opinion that lazy, shiftless American workers are so thrilled to receive their unemployment checks that they have no incentive to look for work. Its no surprise that Republicans like DeLay were the ones most responsible for moving jobs out of the US to sweatshop havens like Saipan and India. In fact, the little runt actually helped American corporations get tax breaks for outsourcing jobs.

Unemployed Constituents Stand Up to Paul Ryan, Get Arrested.

October 30th, 2011. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

September 6, 2011. Unemployed constituents, spurned by Paul Ryan on multiple occasions, were galvanized into action the Tuesday following Labor Day. After being unable to convince their representative to schedule a FREE public meeting following a week long sit-in, the members of his district converged on a one time only pay-per-view event far away from the majority of his constituents. At the luncheon, Paul Ryan’s unemployed constituents repeatedly stood to ask him what he was going to do about the jobs crisis. But, instead of addressing his members in need, Ryan had the unemployed escorted out by police and made petty remarks. In one incident, a gentleman in his seventies stood to confront Ryan about his stance on “entitlements” and was grabbed by police. He was then wrestled to the ground while Ryan joked, “Hope he took his blood-pressure medication.” Watch now and visit wisconsinjobsnow.org to demand Ryan hold a REAL meeting with his constituents.

Up to 92% UK jobs go to immigrants – jobcentre plus

October 28th, 2011. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

Unemployment now 8% – 2.5 Million unemployed the highest in 15 years. But as spending cuts in the UK force a growing number of people out of work, the few vacancies that are left are mostly going to immigrants. Jamie Bragginton is among the growing ranks of the unemployed. He has been trying to find a job in social housing since May — but competition is fierce. “There are around five or six agencies working for each job so you just find there are about 30-40 people getting shortlisted. I’ve had to look at salaries that are slightly less, maybe going back to college, maybe doing something part-time,” he says. Unemployment is now at 8 per cent — the highest for 15 years. But no matter how hard Jamie tries, the odds are stacked against him. Job centers across the UK have helped fill over 180000 new vacancies in the last 12 months. But only 8 per cent of those went to British nationals. Foreign workers were more successful in the job market nine times out of 10. Reversing that trend was a key election pledge of the new government, promising to slash immigration. However a year on, it has only increased. Net immigration was nearly a quarter of a million last year — up 20 per cent on 2009 and Britain’s second biggest ever annual total. It is way off the government’s five-figure target. “I think they were probably over-promising. Given the restrictions that they face, it didn’t make sense to promise to bring the number down to an arbitrary level. Really, they should’ve been …

Congressman Geoff Davis: Hearing on Moving from Unemployment Checks to Paychecks

October 14th, 2011. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

Today’s hearing is on the President’s proposals to help the long-term unemployed get back to work, which are part of his latest jobs plan. There is certainly bipartisan agreement on that goal. But we need to do a better job helping all the unemployed return to work, because today’s short-term unemployed workers risk becoming tomorrow’s long-term unemployed. For example, one of America’s 14 million unemployed workers, Ms. Dawn Deane, will testify shortly about her experience since being laid off in June. She is not “long-term unemployed.” But why should we wait until she reaches that stage before she gets effective help in getting back to work? Yet that is largely what the President’s latest plan proposes, starting with its call to extend unemployment benefits for up to 99 weeks for another year. That has a familiar ring because this would be the 10th extension since mid-2008. That’s left a long track record for assessing whether extending unemployment benefits will create jobs, as some have claimed. For instance, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi last year said extending unemployment benefits “is one of the biggest stimuluses to our economy….It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative that you can name.” But in reality, since Federal extended benefits began, the unemployment rate rose from 5.6 to 9.1 percent and over 6 million jobs disappeared. Federal benefits have already added 0 billion to the deficit, and today we are being asked by the President to spend …

The pain of the long-term unemployed: needed but not wanted

October 8th, 2011. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

The sharp click from the phone sent an emotional stab to my gut. Once again, I was needed, but not wanted. Unemployed? Create Your Own Job! Vid-67

September 22nd, 2011. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

Carl Person, a Harvard lawyer seeking the Libertarian Party’s nomination as its candidate for US President (2012), tells how you can create your own job, while creating millions of jobs for others. Person explains that he needs campaign managers in every state, and in various cities, towns and villages in every state, and how you could be creating your own job in the process, and how this would benefit you, Person’s campaign and the American public. Person knows employment, and has been a small business owner since age 9. He is an active attorney representing small businesses and homeowners, and is a creator of jobs himself. He created the paralegal career field, which now has 300000 jobs, and create another field to be — assistant to the owner of a small business — which itself could have a demand of 10000000 employees by the nation’s 26 million small business owners (including 20 million self employed persons, who have no employees at this time). Person’s job creation promises are quite real and capable of being implemented, because they require no governmental money, and no new statutes. See if you can figure out why our government doesn’t implement these changes to create millions of new jobs. See Person’s website at carlperson.org and contact him at carlpers2@gmail.com (putting “Campaign Manager” in the subject line).

Unemployed Coming 99ers Job Bill will not help the 99ers

September 18th, 2011. Published under Political Scams, Unemployment. No Comments.

Chances are the President will use the term “long term unemployed…” No. He should use the phrase “99ers.” Why? Because this is a speech on jobs and more specifically: Unemployment. Fully half of the long term unemployed have been out of work for more than two years. The White House has been dancing around certain specific areas within the multi-layered unemployment problem. Time for that music to stop. They have tried to argue in the past the situation is “improving” because of the growth in private sector jobs since George Bush left office. John Boehner (202) 225-0600 Eric Cantor (202) 225-2815 Mitch McConnell (202) 224-2541 Harry Reid (202) 224-3542 Last night, President Obama asked us to make these calls to ask these Congressmen to Pass the Jobs Bill

The Future Jobs Fund launches in Barnsley as 180 long-term unemployed return to work

September 12th, 2011. Published under Unemployment. No Comments.

From the Barnsley Chronicle, October 9, 2009: ABOUT 180 of Barnsley’s long term unemployed turned up to work on Monday as the Future Jobs Fund came into action. Former drug user Joanne Robinson, 28, of Kelsey Terrace, has not worked for six years but is now working as an engagement support worker for the council. She said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. I’ve been clean for four years now. I’ve turned my life around and I’m motivated myself to get back into work. “It’s just been very hard to find a job. You always get tarred with the same brush if you’re an ex-offender, or an ex-drug user. That’s why this fund is so good for people like me. “I’m going to try and get my foot back on the ladder and get myself back to work. It is a bit daunting, going back after so long. “I hope to come out with some more qualifications and experience behind me and then hopefully find some permanent work the end of it. “They always say it’s easier to find a job once you’re in a job and unfortunately that’s true.” The scheme will create 600 jobs in Barnsley over the next two years. Salaries, all about £12000 a year, will be paid for roughly half by the government and half by their employers, which include the council, Berneslai Homes, NHS Barnsley, Barnsley Hospital, the Fire Service, Barnsley Community Build and Job Centre Plus. Bret Bowman, 36, of Goldthorpe, spent some time abroad and since coming back to the country has been out of work. He is going to be working for the council and …

Anyone who wants a job should move to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona or Arkansas and be thankful they get 3$ an hour for cleaning toilets or flipping burgers instead of nothing at all. No one should get 400$ or more a week for doing no work. It is unamerican and ungodly. Those who refuse to work must never be allowed to eat. These jobs should be done by Americans not by wetbacks and illegal alien forigner shits who steal jobs and lower land values. Anyone not willing to work even if it means menial jobs should be deported to mexico. Lazy pricks
